Indian importer Petronet has won final government clearance to expand its Kochi LNG terminal to 5 million tonnes per annum.
The Ministry of Environment and Forests gave the nod after accepting that lifting capacity from the original 2.5 million tpa would not cause any further environmental issues.
Petronet hopes to get the first phase of the terminal online towards the end of 2012, according to The Times of India newspaper.
