Hokkaido Gas is to boost LNG imports via shuttle shipments from a chartered vessel to its Hakodate Minato receiving terminal in northern Japan. The utility is to use the Mitsui OSK Lines-controlled 126,300-cbm LNG Taurus (built 1979) as a ‘mother ship’ to bring in cargoes.
These will then be transshipped to a mini-LNG carrier and sailed into Hokkaido’s facility.
Project co-ordinator Japan Petroleum Exploration Company (Japex) said it will use the 3500-cbm Acebo No Maru as the shuttle vessel.
