Gujarat is pushing for the port of Pipavav to play host to the Indian state’s fourth LNG import terminal.
The government, which owns gas hungry Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation, is mulling a facility with 2.5 million to 5 million tonnes per annum in capacity, said energy secretary DJ Pandian.
He told The Economic Times newspaper that several companies have expressed interest, including pharmaceuticals and power group Torrent Limited, oil marketer Bharat Petroleum and refiner Hindustan Petroleum.
