Gasum Oy will begin an environmental impact assessment this month for two potential sites in southern Finland which could host a large LNG import terminal.

The Finnish energy company is planning to build a regasification project in either Joddbole in Inga or Tolkkinen in Porvoo, which is around 50 kilometres east of Helsinki.

The terminal would have a capacity of 10-20 terawatt hours of natural gas per annum, which Gasum says equates to between 25-50% of Finland’s current annual gas consumption.
