GasAtacama’s floating import terminal proposal in northern Chile has suffered a permitting setback.
Regulators in the Antofagasta region have rejected the gas and power utility’s environmental impact assessment.
Its Progas subsidiary filed the paperwork on 17 May for a $350 million terminal project at the city of Mejillones.
However, Environmental Evaluation Service regional director Jose Morreno Correa quickly binned the assessment.
The filing fell short on several points, some that appear to be technicalities, according to the agency.
The study, for example, fails to describe the levels of vibration generated by the project, Morreno wrote.
