A floating storage unit planned for Malaysia’s first LNG import terminal is en route to the South-east Asian country.

The 130,000-cbm Tenaga Empat (built 1981) is currently in the Strait of Malacca after leaving Singapore’s Keppel Shipyard where the FSU was converted from an LNG carrier, shipping data show.

The vessel will be used as part of Petronas Gas’ 3.8 million tonnes per annum Malacca LNG project at Sungai Udang.

Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Holdings is converting the sistership Tenaga Satu (built 1980) to serve as a twin FSU for the project.
