Freeport LNG is seeking to amend permits for a long-approved import terminal expansion project now the operator aims to shift to exports.
The company, which runs the eponymous Texas regasification facility, received the expansion go-ahead in 2006 but has yet to break ground due to the US imports market slump.
Some of the elements of the previously planned work, chiefly a new storage tank and marine dock, will be built as part of the liquefaction project.
