US regulators have formally approved two vapour dispersion models in an effort to put an end to a permitting logjam for LNG facilities.
The Pipeline & Hazardous Materials Safety Administration has signed off designs from consultancy GexCon for its FLACS model and classification society DNV for its so-called PHAST-UDM approach.
Official consent follows preliminary approvals earlier this year.
PHMSA has made some modifications to the draft documents and maintains that both models have some limitations.
