Bahrain is unlikely to select a provider formally for its planned LNG import project before the end of June.

Bahrain Petroleum Corporation, which has been handling the bidding for the terminal, is understood to have made recommendations on a choice of developer.

The final decision, however, will be made by the minister and committee responsible for the development, local sources said this week.

Norway’s IM Skaugen, which has set up an extensive website entitled Bahrain LNG detailing its proposal, and US-based Excelerate Energy are battling it out with two quite different solutions for the Middle East Gulf would-be importer.
