Excelerate Energy has firmed up a deal with the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority to provide a floating storage and regasification unit off the southern coast of the Caribbean nation.

The US-based regas specialist is teaming up with PREPA to take on the development and permitting of the facility, dubbed Aguirre GasPort, finalising an initial deal signed in May.

The terminal will supply PREPA’s Central Aguirre Power Plant, which has already converted 600MW of its available 1500MW to utilise natural gas.
