Italian energy company Enel has kicked off initial site works for the Porto Empedocle LNG terminal in Sicily.
The company is surveying the area to confirm it is “free from archeological findings or unexploded ordnance”, said a spokesman. “Once these activities are completed the actual groundworks will be opened.”
Following that, full construction of the terminal (illustrated above) will take around 54 months.
