Indian Oil has tied up a number of off-takers for its Ennore LNG import terminal project.

Fertiliser companies Madras Fertilisers and SPIC have signed up for regasified volumes from the proposed facility, along with the operators of more than 400 megawatts of power plants, Ennore LNG executive director V Damodaran told The Hindu Business Line newspaper.

Indian Oil is planning a 5 million tonnes per annum terminal near the city of Chennai in Tamil Nadu state.

A project management consultant is due to be selected next month with five or six companies said to have bid for the job.

Following this award, the developer then plans to issue an engineering, procurement and construction tender for storage tanks, marine facilities and regasification kit.
