Jamaican government officials are set to report to the country’s LNG steering committee today on the future of its maiden import terminal project following assessment of supply bids.
Offers are on the table from the Anglo-Dutch supermajor Shell and global financial services giant Morgan Stanley for a contract to ship volumes to a proposed floating storage and regasification unit.
“With knowledge of the quotations of these bids and for the terminal, we have a reasonably good idea of whether things add up to a viable project,” said LNG steering committee chairman Carlton Davis.
“(Energy Minister Philip Paulwell) will be saying something on this in parliament after sessions have been resumed in September.”
