China National Offshore Oil Corporation plans to expand its maiden floating LNG import terminal via a second phase.
The company said work started this week on the initial 2.2 million tonnes per annum facility, which will be sited off Tianjin.
Offshoot CNOOC Gas & Power signed a deal with GDF Suez last year to develop the terminal. The French outfit will supply its 145,000-cbm shuttle and regasification vessel GDF Suez Cape Ann (built 2010, pictured) under a medium-term charter starting from 2013.
