Chilean utility GasValpo is dipping its toe into the international LNG supply market as it looks to book expanded capacity at the South American nation’s GNL Quintero import terminal.

Potential suppliers are being kept under wraps but sources indicated the US export market is high on the list as Quintero marketing affiliate GNL Chile works with capacity bidders including GasValpo to identify LNG sources.

Henry Hub-linked deals from the slew of terminal projects eyeing liquefaction trains across the US are a “very attractive alternative” for supply, a market source said.
