Colbun has chosen a favoured provider of a floating storage and regasification unit for its proposed LNG import terminal in Chile.

The domestic electricity generator held final meetings in London this month with the three bidders - Excelerate Energy, Mitsui OSK Lines and Hoegh LNG - to go through some legal aspects before putting forward a decision to its board.

“We are very clear on who and will make a final presentation to the board by the end of August,” said a Colbun executive.

Assuming board approval, the source said the plan is to close a charter party agreement with the selected bidder.
