Would-be importer Gascan expects to receive its final permit from Madrid by year-end for its first LNG terminal in the Canary Islands.

Approval by the Industry Ministry would allow the company, in which Spanish terminal player Enagas recently took a sizeable stake, to begin construction some time next year on the island of Tenerife, a Gascan source said.

An expected three-year timetable for construction means operations could begin in 2015.
