Spain’s Bahia de Bizkaia Gas has launched construction of a much-delayed storage expansion project.
The company, which runs a 7 billion cubic metres per annum LNG import terminal near Bilbao in northern Spain’s Basque region, has begun work on a 150,000 cubic-metre tank.
The operator signed a turnkey contract in July with compatriot engineers Cobra, Sener and Balzola for the job, which is expected to cost €110 million ($152 million).
