Croatia is in line to issue a location permit for a floating storage and regasification unit by the end of September 2013.
Import project developer and state pipeline company Plinacro has been pursuing a floating terminal to act as a stand-in for the stalled Adria onshore scheme.
Plinacro has changed tack on its import solution for Croatia, recent reports suggested, but European Union-funded infrastructure projects group COWI-IPF, which falls under the Western Balkans Investment Framework, confirmed it is still contracted to carry out early studies into the FSRU.
The project team will shortly begin an environmental and social impact assessment and conduct a feasibility study and conceptual design work, “all leading to a location permit as a key outcome”, said a WBIF official.
