Shipowners have been pre-qualified to build a series of specialised LNG carriers for the Arctic-based Yamal export project.
Those selected were invited to London last week for a round of clarification meetings on the likely 12 or so vessels that will be required to lift cargoes from the planned three-train, 16.5 million tonnes per annum plant.
The number of companies making initial offers is understood to run into double figures, possibly 13, after a deadline for pre-qualification passed in April.
