Woodside’s newly opened Pluto LNG project in Australia “exceeded expectations” in the second quarter, shipping out eight cargoes.

Robust production from the plant, which exported its first volumes in May, allowed for spot sales of three spare cargoes, the operator said in a second-quarter update.

The performance has persuaded the Sydney-listed company to lift its 2012 production target to between 77 million and 83 million barrels of oil equivalent from a prior estimate of 73 million to 81 million boe.
