Greek shipowner Maran Gas Maritime has fixed the first of its 11 upcoming LNG carrier newbuildings to Australia’s Woodside on a long-term contract.

Woodside boss Peter Coleman said in a speech that the company has signed a 20-year time-charter to add a fourth vessel to the fleet at new liquefaction project Pluto LNG as first exports get under way.

The unnamed 159,800-cbm ship is due for delivery from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering in July 2013, after which it will start a 15-year-plus charter.
