Finnish ship power specialist Wartsila will supply the main engines for two LNG powered tugs in China.
The vessels are being built for China National Offshore Oil Corporation subsidiary CNOOC Energy Technology & Services.
The 6,500 boiler horsepower tugs will operate along China’s coastline and will be fuelled from CNOOC’s bunkering terminals.
Wartsila will provide two 6-cylinder 34DF in-line dual-fuel engines.
The engines are due for delivery at the beginning of 2013, with the first of the tugs expected to be delivered in June of that year.
