Tsakos Energy Navigation has pencilled in its first LNG newbuildings for five years.
TEN is understood to have signed a letter of intent with South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries for one LNG carrier with an option on a second vessel.
Industry sources reveal that the ships, which were agreed with the yard last month, are of a standard size of around the 160,000-cbm mark with delivery dates either in late 2014 or 2015.
A contract is expected to be signed shortly.
