Teekay is considering contracting both LNG newbuildings and floating storage and regasification units.
Speaking to analysts in a second quarter results briefing company president and chief executive Peter Evensen said that for LNG carriers the preference now is for 160,000-to170,000-cbm Atlanticmax sized vessels with lower boil offs of 0.1%. “I think if we ordered now, we would order a better spec at a lower price than some of the people who have already ordered,” he said.
