Shots fired in attack on LNG carrier off Oman

A loaded LNG carrier carrying a Qatari cargo came under attack on Wednesday off the coast of Oman, writes Lucy Hine.

Three rifle shots were fired from a fishing dhow containing about seven people that came alongside the 126,300-cbm LNG Aries (built 1977) near Masirah Island, industry sources said.

The LNG carrier is owned by Mitsui OSK Lines-controlled BGT and is on charter to Qatargas.
