A first LNG ship-to-ship transfer off the Japanese coast was completed this week.

One of what will be several commissioning shipments was transferred from the Mitsui OSK Lines-controlled 126,300-cbm LNG carrier LNG Taurus (built 1979) into the mini-sized 3500-cbm newbuilding Akebono Maru.

Two more cool-down transfers are scheduled before the first commercial STS takes place at the start of December.

Both ships moored off East Tomakomai port off the north-east coast of Japan at the start of this month

The MOL vessel is carrying a shipment of Qatari LNG.
