Brunei Gas Carriers has confirmed an LNG newbuilding at Hyundai Heavy Industries in South Korea and looks set to dispose of two 1970s-built ships on its delivery.
HHI will construct an 154,800-cbm vessel, due for handover in October 2014, to serve the Brunei LNG export project.
BGC managing director Mohamad Damit said in a speech that the company has options with the yard for two additional newbuildings.
The latest ship will replace two existing B-Class vessels currently in operation, he added.
BGC has been carrying out a fleet renewal exercise as it rolls over LNG sales contracts with its mainly Japanese customers.
