A new Russian-South Korean venture is to undertake its first plan approval of two LNG carrier newbuildings.
STX Offshore & Shipbuilding and the Russian classification society RS have signed an agreement covering two 170,000-cbm ice-class LNG carriers being built for SCF against term-charter contracts with Shell International Trading and Shipping Company.
The plan approval will be carried out by the RS Design and Newbuilding Support Centre in Korea, which was opened in March 2012.
