Three foreign players have thrown their hats in the ring to build Bangladesh’s maiden LNG import terminal.

Samsung C&T, Hiranandani Electricity with Hoegh LNG and a consortium of Astra Oil with Excelerate Energy have each lodged bids with developer Petrobangla, according to The Financial Express.

The state-owned energy company is asking for proposals on a 500 million cubic feet per day floating storage and regasification unit with subsea connections and moorings off Moheshkhali Island near Chittagong in the Bay of Bengal.

Golar LNG was also invited to bid.
