New deal to see Maran Gas draw level with Golar

Greek shipowner Maran Gas Maritime has drawn level with Golar in the LNG carrier newbuilding stakes.

The John Angelicoussis-controlled company is on the brink of inking contracts for two 159,800-cbm LNG carrier options at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering in South Korea. Sources say that while these have yet to be signed, paperwork should be completed next month.

The LNG carriers, which are due for delivery in 2015, will give Maran Gas seven vessels at DSME.
