Texan-based Excelerate Energy has been scouting around for an LNG carrier for period charter but responses suggest shipowners’ nerves are starting to show.
The regasification specialist is understood to have been seeking a vessel to take on charter for 15 years with the option of extending this by a further five years.
Brokers indicated the company has only received offers of LNG carrier newbuildings at time-charter rates in the $70,000 per day region.
