Japan’s Mitsui OSK Lines is ready to tackle floating storage and regasification newbuildings rather than only offering conversions.
LNG carrier division executive officer Takeshi Hashimoto stressed, however, that the company will not order units on speculation. “We will try to understand very precisely about our customers’ requirements. These (FSRUs) are project-specific vessels.”
He said MOL, which is currently understood to be short-listed for the Colbun floating regas project in Chile and is pursuing a handful of other similar developments, would be able to access FSRU newbuilding berths for 2015 deliveries.
