Two of what could be the first LNG-fuelled newbuildings for international trading appear to be running late.

The 5600-dwt multi-purpose ro-ro vessels contracted by Norway’s Sea-Cargo could be delivered from Bharati Shipyard in India by the middle of this year, industry sources suggested.

Four sisterships were contracted at the yard, two of which are to be built with LNG propulsion systems.

The vessels, which were due to be named Sea-Cargo Innovation and Sea-Cargo Renergy, were originally slated for delivery at the end of 2011 or in early January.
