Liberty Natural Gas is planning to invite proposals for the construction of its US LNG import terminal in late 2013 to early 2014.

The developer is now pursuing a much smaller, exclusively offshore project.

In an amended application filing with the Maritime Administration, it said: “Liberty will select the contractor(s) from a pool of qualified candidates following the receipt of the Deepwater Port Act licence and other necessary approvals.”

Construction is scheduled to be completed during an 18-month period spread over two calendar years.

Off-site fabrication and other pre-construction activities are due to kick off in early 2013 and take around nine to 12 months.

Installation will then be completed towards the end of the fourth quarter of 2014.
