Alaska’s lone liquefaction facility is set to continue producing LNG until at least October after scoring a new deal to deliver an extra cargo.
The Kenai plant was due to be mothballed in May due to dwindling Cook Inlet gas reserves but stayed open to provide the Japanese market with additional volumes following the post earthquake and tsunami demand boom.
A four-month-long extension to the project’s life would have brought it up to August.
