Japanese shipbuilder Kawasaki Heavy Industries has completed the development of a 9,000-teu containership that would be fuelled by LNG.

Classification society DNV, which has given Approval in Principle for both the gas supply system of the vessel and the LNG fuel tanks, said the 308 metre long, 14.5 metre draft boxship is fitted with a 7,000-cbm LNG fuel tank.

The vessel is kitted out with prismatic low pressure insulated type-B LNG tanks.
