Jamaica’s government held a pair of pre-bid meetings this week over its proposed maiden import terminal.

In attendance at the first of the New Kingston events were potential bidders, industry experts, non-governmental organisations, representatives of the National Environment & Planning Agency and Solicitor General Douglas Leys, according to the government’s information service.

Christopher Zacca, who has been tapped to head a steering committee to develop the project, said the government plans to set up a private sector board to run the floating project.
