Israel has officially halted work on a long-term LNG import terminal in favour of concentrating efforts on a quick-fix solution.
Minister of National Infrastructure Uzi Landau has ordered the Natural Gas Authority to “put on hold procedures for the planning and construction of a permanent installation” for receiving LNG.
The government has been pushing hard to get a buoy-based floating regasification facility operating in 2012 to meet a projected energy gap before domestic gas production from the offshore Tamar fields comes on-stream.
