Hoegh LNG is in the process of selling on a newly acquired LNG carrier, according to rumours sweeping the market.
The Norwegian owner has sold the 126,400-cbm LNG Libra (built 1979, pictured), brokers said. A price of around $62 million has been quoted.
The name of a buyer has failed to emerge, however. Brokers said this suggests a deal may have been in the making but has failed to materialise as yet.
Questioned about a possible sale, a Hoegh spokesman said the company is considering various options for the ship after its current charter expires early next year.
These include conversion to a floating storage and regasification unit, a new charter agreement or a sale, he said.
