Greek owner lifts STX order book to the half-dozen mark

South Korean yard STX Offshore & Shipbuilding has netted a new LNG carrier newbuilding order, lifting its haul to six.

The company shied away from naming the owner except to say it is a European-based outfit.

Sources suggested the 160,000-cbm vessel has been contracted by Greek company Alpha Tankers & Freighters.

Alpha made its break into the sector in September 2011 by flipping an order for a 180,000-dwt bulk carrier into an LNG carrier newbuilding for delivery in 2015.
