Golar is said to want a fleet of up to 20 trading LNG carriers, suggesting the two newbuildings it confirmed this week will not be its last.
Sources close to company chief John Fredriksen (right)said the shipping magnate believes a large fleet will give Golar clout in the marketplace.
On Monday the company confirmed another pair of 160,000-cbm tri-fuel LNG newbuildings at shipyard Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea priced at slightly above $400 million.
