Containership giant CMA-CGM has developed a design for an ultra large, LNG-powered containership.
The French liner giant has been working with South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering on the basic design of a 14,000-teu containership.
The design used the so-called ME-GI (MAN Electronic – Gas Injection) 2-stroke dual fuel engine made by MAN Diesel.
The engine simultaneously burns heavy fuel oil and LNG.
