Indian importer Petronet expects to launch a formal tender for an LNG carrier this month.

Nine parties submitted pre-qualification offers in June but it remains unclear if they will all be invited to participate. The hopefuls include a consortium of Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) and Japanese owners NYK and K Line.

Hanjin Shipping, BW Gas of Singapore, Golar LNG and Teekay, Dynagas, Tsakos Energy Navigation (TEN) paired with Hyundai Merchant Marine, GasLog and Cardiff Marine in partnership with Marubeni are also on the early list.

Petronet is seeking an LNG carrier of between 160,000 cbm and 216,000 cbm for a period of 20 years.
