Japanese utility Chubu Electric Power Company is rumoured to be in the process of securing its first two LNG newbuildings.
Compatriot shipowners NYK and Mitsui OSK Lines will contract one vessel each at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Japan and charter the ships to Chubu, sources said.
The LNG newbuildings are believed to be of 155,000 cbm capacity and will be pencilled in for delivery dates in 2015.
