BW Gas is preparing to reactivate a 28-year-old laid up LNG carrier that has been languishing off Malaysia for almost three years.
The 125,199-cbm Koto (ex-Kotowaka Maru, built 1984, pictured) is reported to have been shifted to Jiangsu Xinrong Shipyard in China for the work.
The Koto suffered a flooded engine-room in a botched lay-up operation during 2009 when seawater valves and inspection holes on the main condenser were left open while the ship was unmanned.
