Pre-qualified shipowners have received tender documents for the three vessels required for the Inpex-led Ichthys LNG project.
The 15-strong field is understood to include Belgium’s Exmar, SCF Group of Russia, Japanese owners NYK, K Line and Mitsui OSK Lines, plus Greek players Dynagas, Maran Gas Maritime and GasLog.
Also on the list are Norway’s Hoegh LNG, Knutsen OAS Shipping and BW Gas, Teekay of Canada, Malaysian giant MISC and South Korean shipowners SK Shipping and Hyundai Merchant Marine.
A large number of owners were initially contacted about the tender, industry observers said.
