Some workers at the PNG LNG project have been demobilised from the Hides area of the project amid a continuing dispute with landowners.

Work in the area has been suspended for two weeks as a result of "unlawful activities undertaken by some members of the local community", said Rebecca Arnold, a spokewoman for ExxonMobil's Esso Highlands subsidiary.

She said workers have not been evacuated, but some have been moved from Hides because they are unable to work.

Talks continue with local community leaders to resolve the dispute.

She said the ExxonMobil-led PNG LNG export project is still on schedule for 2014 start-up.
