Two consortia are left in the race for a front-end engineering and design contract for Japanese operator Inpex’s floating liquefaction unit to be installed at its Abadi field off Indonesia.
Inpex initially received technical bids from three groups for engineering studies on the 2.5 million tonnes per annum floater. but now only the groupings of Chiyoda with Saipem and Hyundai Heavy Industries and JGC with Technip and Samsung Heavy Industries are left.
A third group comprising Foster-Wheeler with the Petrofac-IKPT joint venture and STX Offshore & Shipbuilding also pre-qualified but, it is understood, has withdrawn from the tender.
