Tokyo Electric Power and compatriot Tohoku Electric Power are poised to receive 400,000 tonnes of LNG from Indonesia, analysts said today.

The deal is part of the utilities’ efforts to tie up fuel for thermal power plants after last month’s earthquake and tsunami, which crippled nuclear capacity.

The LNG is poised to come from the 1 million tonnes of volumes at Indonesia’s Bontang LNG plant that have been set aside for the spot market.
